Going Into Winter

This series deals with my journey through depression. These paintings are about the fact that you bring yourself with you, no matter where you go—therefore change needs to start inside oneself. Life can appear as an empty road before you, the distance fogged and unclear. It can be cold and lonely, but there is a stark beauty in winter, and a myriad of subtle colours in grey. I painted in layers with charcoal and oil paint, creating a set of semi-obscured landscapes that reflected my inner experience.
